Thomas Rowell, Founder and President of Thomas Rowell Consulting, has 25 years of leading edge industry experience. Tom received his Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M specializing in Ergonomics in 1992. Just three years later, he became Certified Professional Ergonomist #727 (one of the youngest Certified Professional Ergonomists in the country), outpaced only by a fellow Aggie just a few months younger.

16-year career at IBM in Ergonomics, Health & Safety:
Tom oversaw IBM Occupational Safety and Ergonomics programs on an 11,000 employee campus, with three distinct manufacturing plants. In 1995 he earned his CPE (Certified Professional Ergonomist). Responsibilities expanded to technical standard owner for worldwide IBM ergonomics program development. At the Austin site he actively performed ergonomics and safety workplace evaluations and analyses, injury investigations, design reviews, equipment inspections, and program auditing. Tom interfaced with IBM medical staff to reduce injury severity, lost time cases, and worker’s compensation costs. He developed and implemented individual and mass customized ergonomics training for Austin site’s employees under a proprietary “train the trainer” program to improve overall safety & ergonomics awareness of all manufacturing employees. Tom was a critical team member supporting application and certification process for the first IBM location to receive OSHA VPP Star status. He was a supporting team member for the site’s ISO-18001 certification process. As IBM regionalized safety & health operations Tom became responsible for implementing ergonomics programs and solutions for 51,000 employees in 16 states across the Southeast United States.
7 year career Manufacturing at CESCO Magnetics:
Facilitated operational relocation from CA to TX for manufacturing company offering Sanitary Grade food, beverage, and Pharmacy grade magnetic separation filters. Accountable for all aspects of manufacturing operations, procedures, and quality assurance, ergonomics, and safety in high-tech CNC facility. Expertise in: direct raw material purchasing and all manufacturing supplies, inventory control and systematic program development, scheduling, shipping/receiving, facilities and equipment maintenance. Accountable for employee management and direct customer support. Managed remote communication network and local hardware/ software maintenance and IT security processes. Experienced in; CAD support, Water Jet project design and programming, Mazatrol/CNC programming, manual machine and equipment operation.
